The Valley was the onscreen parody of The O.C. itself. It was named after the San Fernando Valley, where it took place. Summer Roberts is obsessed with the show and got to meet casts members at a party in Season 1.

It was created by a Mr. Hawthorne, who was the father of Kaitlin's room mate Hadley Hawthorne and the owner of the trailer park Julie Cooper lived in.
